Finish the Book Already: Ignore Distractions

By Lisa Batten Kunkleman

Have mercy! Between my husband chopping wood outside my office window, my cat lounging all over my messy desk, my dogs underneath my feet begging to go in and out, this book is on the slow track to completion.

My thought is, those who can’t do, watch. And be distracted. That’s me. Distracted. Enough already. He’s done with the wood so I’ll get back to editing.

Even the cat watches

At least I have a potential book cover now. Thanks so much to everyone for the feedback. Opinions Needed: (You Don’t Hear That Very Often) Finalizing Book Cover and Title Selection

The middle example was the winner by a slim margin. See what I did there? Margin?  IMG_BC985C481567-1

Trying out the clever writer talk. Thanks again. This is a combination result of the proposed middle picture, brightened up like the others with a different font. This publishing thing is a whole new learning experience. When people say, “Write a book,” little did I know that would be the easy part.

  1. Love the new cover. Sometimes committees can actually do some good.

  2. Nice cover. And the pets … how could you not be distracted by those sweet faces??

  3. Something I don’t think I could do is write a book. Have enough trouble writing a Post on my Blog. There are many times I know what I want to say, but just can’t seem to get it down on paper/screen. Even have trouble reading a book. Guess concentration is the key.

    • I sure get that. My trouble is often having lots of plans and topic ideas away from the computer or pad and pen, then can’t remember a single one. They melt away like dreams.

  4. Congrats on even attempting a book! Exciting but a lot of work. I can see how it would be hard to get that finished as it takes so much time and energy and I can also see how one could be easily distracted with everything else that is going. Good luck, keep up the good work.

    • Thanks so much. I am rounding the final curves and will be done soon. So close. Just a few final details left now. I’m beyond excited to get it out there.

  5. Hi. A quick note to say I’m going to follow your site. No pressure to reciprocate, though I’ll be happy if you do.
