Once again my husband is working smarter not harder. We have an invasion of burweed that is hazardous to pet and human feet. I was talking about covering it with plastic to kill it. I went into the house and came back to find my husband taking care of the problem. We needed to order some topsoil anyway for some low areas of the yard. We shall just get a bigger load to go with the grass seed. Or maybe we should just plant clover.

Looks like you have your work cut out, but Hubby looks to have the right tools to tackle the problem..
Wishing you well with your new creative space..

I’m not familiar with this weed. I did some research, and it seems like it’s a pain in the foot! Glad your husband has the equipment to get rid of it.

Me too but now I’m finding that it’s scattered all over the yard. I don’t want to use an herbicide so I’m hoping I can get other grass and happy wildflowers like Clover to choke it out. I didn’t realize it had the burs because I’m always in flip-flops but my adult kids run around barefooted all the time and had been complaining about strange burs getting in their feet. I’m used to nasty sandspurs since I grew up down at the beach.

I wouldn’t let my husband use any herbicides when we got married because of the birds I feed and love. We have a small front yard and he actually has hand weeded it for many years. We live by a busy sidewalk and he gets lots of comments, mostly advising weed killer. He smiles and keeps on. It is his contemplation actually, much like knitting.

I walk around neighborhoods and see dead earthworms that have had to run for their lives from the poison in the fancy grass. Ironic that those worms job is to aerate the soil to keep it healthy for growth.Makes me sad. Also knowing potential danger to birds that might eat the poisoned worms. Good for y’all.
