Who’s running this house anyway?

By Lisa Batten Kunkleman

I could write all day about our menagerie and explain that Hubs and I usually have three dogs, one cat, and two horses. That number changed when our college kids flew back  into our empty nest bearing two more critters.  A puppy named Tucker and a kitty named Zor. Let’s just say, life has changed. It’s busier, louder, messier, and if I have to admit it, sometimes even happier.  Animals sense that we’re suckers immediately and play us like a dog whistle. Those baby animal eyes are hypnotizing. I think I’ll let these photos do most of the talking.

  1. You’ve certainly got your hands full, Lisa. That last photo is great!

  2. Aww, I love how much you love your animals ❤ Aren’t they the best?

  3. Looks like you would get a bunch of eye rolls if you ever complained you were lonely.

  4. Pictures of happy loved animals, yes please. I bet you wouldn’t have it any other way. Lovely happy post.

    • Thanks so much. They’re delightful almost all the time. Except that house breaking part. Oh and don’t chase the cats part. Oh and don’t chew on the older dogs mouths or ears or try to nurse from Sadie hound. It’s a fun ride.

  5. Since I’ve had the recent pleasure of being in your home I can visualize everything you said in your blog. What a wonderful family and home you have.

  6. Never a dull moment at your house. We have a number of pets that started out with our kids and found their way here. They make life richer. 🙂

  7. I’d say Tucker is running the house! But they are all cute. Thanks for visiting The Glasgow Gallivanter.

    • I’d say you’re correct. He had left for the night with my daughter. That’s why I’m actually having time to work on blog. Yay. But I’ll see him tomorrow. Ha.

  8. Looks like a happy house to me!

  9. Those of us with animals know they are ALWAYS running the house!! What an adorable crew you have there, and how lucky the cats got along so easily. The kitty on you while you exercise – yeah – I had one of those. My “yoga assistant”!
I’m glad you stopped by – I have been soooo behind, and in my own blogging, too.

  10. This really brightened my day

  11. Your pets are adorable. They look like they are a lot of fun.

  12. Awww – so cute! And you´re right: no one could resist those lovely puppy eyes!! 😀 Love your little menagerie, Lisa!!! 🙂 <3

  14. Is Remy a Border Collie? They are usually ‘the police’ dogs who keep others in line!

    • His color says border collie but his rescue papers say Shellie. Either way he is definitely the police dog. If I call them to go outside and potty if Sadie is not moving fast enough for Remy’s liking he goes behind her and tries to push her. And nips her hips at times. He herds all of us and is my complete protector. If I get up for a second he usually does too.

  15. Aww they are so cute. I love pets too. I also have dog at home and my 1.5 year old daughter is so possessive for him.
